Musk – Twitter Death Spiral week 3

Twitter Engineer Fired On Twitter Calls Musk’s Team “A Bunch Of Cowards”

Incredibly, it appears that among the “bloatware” that was shut down by Elon over on the other site… was the “microservice” that sends the 2FA codes you need to securely log in. So they didnt turn off 2-factor authentication but instead turned off the service that sends you the 2-factor authentication code. So if you log out and try to log in with an authentication code you simply wouldn’t receive one. That’s going to make things super secure for all the high import accounts on there!

Seeing how Twitter’s dumpster fire is getting bigger and bigger, all government entities should have their own mastodon server asap.

In the meantime one of the other things Musk un-plugged was the device identifier for tweets – robbing us of memorable opportunities like this:

Musk re-instates Trump’s account. Pretty desperate if he thinks this will save his $44 Billion investment. In the meantime CBS has left Twitter, Texas Tribune set up their own instance on Mastodon, Propublica moved to Mastodon. Will be interesting to see what the rest of the weekend holds and what happens on Monday.
